Many men will tell you that they are not sure that custom made shirts, or bespoke shirts are worth the money and the trouble. The truth is that if you compare a custom made shirt to the ones you buy from stores, you will see big differences. The ones from the store cannot compare. There are some things you will find in bespoke shirts that you will not find in other shirts.

1. Your tailor takes 11 precise measurements

It is no wonder that they are called made to measure. When you order for this kind of shirt, your tailor will ask you to come in so that he can take your measurements. He will measure everything from neck size to sleeves to shoulders and tummy. This way, he can make a shirt that fits you exactly.

2. All extra fabric around the waist is taken out

You know how sometimes men’s shirts look like dresses because they flare out at the waist? You will not get that will bespoke made shirts. The tailor gets rid of all the extra fabric so that the shirt fits exactly. This way, it looks a lot neater when it is tucked in.

3. They are made extra long

If you find that your shirts get untucked when you raise your arms or bend, then what you need is made to measure shirts. The tailor makes them extra long so that when you tuck them in, they never come out no matter how high you raise your hands of bend. You can be sure that you will look neat all day.

4. The neck and the sleeves lengths are measured very carefully

You don’t have to worry about your shirt being too tight because the shirt is measured to ¼ inch and so are the sleeves. It is important that the neck be just like this otherwise your shirt will feel like it is choking you and your tie will not look right. The sleeves are important too because you want them to stick out of the suit sleeve in a very precise way.

5. The wrist is carefully measured as well

Men have different sizes of wrists and you want a shirt that fits and that looks perfect for you. That is why your tailor will measure an additional 1/8.

6. You get clean, tight stitching

Made to measure shirts are hand stitched which means that the stitching is firm and clean. The stitches may not be as uniform as the ones on machine made shirts but they still look a lot better.

7. You get pattern matching

If the shirt is striped, you will notice that the shirt comes together perfectly at the seams. This doesn’t usually happen with machine made shirts; you will find that the stripes will not match at the seams.

These are just some of the qualities of bespoke shirts. There are many others and you can be sure that an investment in these shirts will definitely redefine your style.
